'Picture Perfect' Rectangle & Square Quilt Design

Hope you have some lovely sewing time this weekend. If you managed to catch Nicola last Sunday on Create and Craft you would have seen the blocks she is making for her newest quilt 'Picture Perfect'. As promised on the show, here is the blog to show you different ways to position your blocks to create so many different quilt designs. Enjoy the free pattern!



‘Picture Perfect’ Rectangle & Square Quilt Design

The ‘Picture Perfect’ block is made from the following:

4 x Light Rectangles

1 x Light Small Square

1 x Dark Rectangle

1 x Dark Small Square

1 x Large Center Square (contrast or picture fabric or even applique)


Fabric Requirements :

3" x 6" Version -

1 x Fat ¼ of Light fabric (cutting outer and inner templates)

1 x Fat ⅛th of Dark Fabric (you can cut 2 whole rectangles and 2 whole squares, cutting outer and inner templates)

1 x Fat ⅛th  of Center Fabric (cutting outer and inner templates)

2 ½" x 5" Version -

1 x Fat ⅛th of Light fabric (cutting outer and inner templates)

1 x Fat ⅛th of Dark Fabric (you can cut 2 whole rectangles and 2 whole squares, cutting outer and inner templates)

1 x Fat ⅛th  of Center Fabric (cutting outer and inner templates)

I have included 3 ways you can join the blocks together, the first design is regular and the next one the middle row is dropped down by one rectangle. The third design is dropped down by 2 rectangles. All of the designs are fabulous, I wonder which design you’ll choose!
